Advice on Transporting Rig

Some funny responses here :-)

Laptop - just use a Targus-style carrying bag. That applies to car, train, whatever.

Desktop - between the front and rear seats where passenger feet normally are. Pad the case out with towels if you like.

Shuttle / cube PC - in a rucksack with clothes around it.

All-in-one PC - small briefcase again with clothes around it.

Tablet - passenger will probably be playing Angry Birds on it lol :p

Hmm if i want to take my clothes on a journey/holiday do i pack the bag out with PC parts?

I transport my desktop in my car a fair bit. I kept the original foam stuff that came with it (from OCUK) so I wedge that back in, then put the case back in the original cardboard box it came in, and then I've parcel taped all round the box to reinforce it.

I transport it in the boot, lying flat (mobo side down, cpu/cooler facing up) and it's fine. I normally wedge another bag beside it so the box can't slide around. Then just make sure you take speed bumps nice and slow!

I've driven my tower from Liverpool to North Germany several times. It's a crossfire, full water cooled system. It get's laid flat in my boot, mobo down, then wrapped in a tower as I pack loads of other stuff around it, including my monitor which goes screen down on top of the case. Not once have I ever worried about it, and I've never experienced any damage. You're only driving for a couple of hours, it'll be fine!
