Advice on upgrading from IPS 1440p monitors to single OLED

Hi there,

I currently use Dell S2719DGF + S2721DGF monitors for work and gaming. They have served me well but I feel it's now time to make the jump to a single larger OLED and possibly 4k monitor.

Mandatory requirements:

32 or 34 UW
High refresh rate
Low response time
G-Sync/Free-Sync (currently use an AMD card but want both options covered for future use)

Luxury requirements:

4k
KVM
DP 2.1

I spent a bit of time looking through the forums, reddit, RTINGS etc. As a result, I've narrowed down to the following:

Dell Alienware AW3225QF - QD-OLED, 4k, 240Hz, Dolby Vision, G-Sync - £582
ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG - WOLED, 4k, 240/480Hz, KVM, G-Sync/Free-Sync - £823
ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP - WOLED, 4k, 240/480Hz, KVM, G-Sync/Free-Sync - £823
MSI MPG 322URX QD-OLED - QD-OLED, 4k, 240Hz, KVM, G-Sync, DP 2.1 - £648
Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2P - QD-OLED, 4k, 240Hz, KVM, Free-Sync, DP 2.1 - £898

Dell Alienware AW3425DW - QD OLED, 1440p, 240Hz, G-Sync/Free-Sync - £614

Notes:

I was originally gravitating towards the Alienware AW3225QF, as it receives heaps of praise and comes in significantly cheaper than the ASUS and Gigabyte options. However, it lacks a KVM which will make switching between work and gaming a bit more cumbersome (admittedly I don't use a KVM at the moment). It's also lacking DP 2.1 which may impact future use? Curved also appealing.

MSI MPG 322URX looks like a great option on paper but I can't actually explain why it doesn't grab me.

ASUS PG32UCDP could be the one, but again it lacks DP 2.1 and it's close to £250 more than the Alienware AW3225QF. Worth it? Not sure.

I think any upgrade from 1440p IPS monitors will be night & day, but going from 1440p to 1440p might leave a sour aftertaste especially when there are a plethora of 4k options.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Anything else to consider?

Am I right in thinking that 4k 4th gen type OLED monitors are not generally available yet?
That is something that I would consider, noting you want minimum of 32"

The 4th gen being the ones using Tandem technology, seems impressive compared to previous gen

If it's for work as well I wouldn't consider the 1440p OLEDs. 4k doesn't need to be on 38"+ to look good, it looks great at 27".

They're alright for a bit of light reading, browsing etc. but I just find the poor text clarity on both QD-OLED and WOLED monitors at 1440p to be too distracting to use for work.

The 4k models are fine, both the 27" and 32" - and both QD-OLED and WOLED (although we don't have WOLED 27" monitors yet).

Realistically, if I'm OP, I'm probably going for either the AW3225QF, the XG32UCWMG or the FO32U2P - especially if I was moving to just a single monitor and the space to support a 32" screen.

The AW model is super well priced and Dell's support in the UK is fantastic. The Asus XG model is a glossy WOLED with that really nice 'true black' coating that does look insanely nice - although you are paying a bit more for it. The Gigabyte FO32 model is again, a fantastic monitor but also has some additional features that I'd definitely be taking advantage of like the cropped 24.5" mode, the KVM is great, DP 2.1 is always a nice thing to know you have (although I don't think it should be the decisive factor).

I don't think you can make a bad choice right now.
