Advice pc to mac

what do you do with msn and web cam on mac ?

and also office publisher ?

there prob the 2 most gripes my kids give me...

Both of those work absolutely fine. Just plug the webcam in (or use inbuilt if you're using a MB/MBP/iMac) and load up msn and you are good to go.

Publisher is the exact same, buy, install, use :)

I've no idea how frequently this happens, or the "spinning beach ball of death". That they exist at all interferes with the "just works" premise though. I'm not by any stretch condemning Apple's OS as unstable relative to Microsoft, or relative to Ubuntu for that matter.

That it doesn't always "just work" seems relevant to the OP.

Those are very rare indeed unless the Mac's quite seriously unwell.

MSN on OS X is really weird. It randomly signs in and out and does a right spaz if you are logged in on another machine. I would recommend Adium. Awesome little IM and works with a lot of networks.

Office 2011 should be fantastic. It has a proper version of Outlook too. None of that Entourage crap.

You can use the Windows Live Messenger beta with webcam support on Mac. Also, have decided against MS Office on my Mac, am currently running the free Open Office, and it does everything I need of it :D
