Advice please - noise cancelling headphones

I went for a Sony WH-1000XM2, despite its being more expensive than the Bose.
The Sony WH-1000XM2 is fantastic, I (too) can heartily recommend it!

I can thoroughly recommend these Sennheisers if you're looking for something a bit more discrete than the Bose and Sony's which seem to get the majority of recommendations.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately the suggestion is a few weeks too late

As it happens, I used to have a pair of Sennheiser HD 414s and personally I wish I still had them - all my listening nowadays is on Beyerdynamic DT100s except when I can get away with using decent loudspeakers at a realistic level
