Hey guys, I am looking to move in with my girlfriend in the next 4 months. I Would like to try upgrading some parts before all my money is gone forever.

So could someone possibly advise me on which things to upgrade? Or even if it is worthwhile? I haven't paid a lot of attention to the new hardware out or about 'bottle necking'. I am looking to spend around £200 at most (not including selling any current parts), i am only gaming on this pc @ 1920x1080

XFX ATI Radeon 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 970 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.50GHz (Socket AM3)

BenQ G2222HDL 21.5" Widescreen LED Monitor

Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

Lepa B-Series 850W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - with FREE LEPA Hard Drive Enclosure

Antec 100 One Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ / ST1000DM005)1

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)

Samsung SH-S222BB/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Thanks in advance :)

A 7850 isn't really much of an upgrade over a 6950, you'd be better off selling some bits to fund a 7950 if you want a performance increase.

with a budget of only £200. a vga upgrade for me is all you need, and maybe a cpu overclock so again maybe a better cooler for that, you wont get both or even a 7950 for your budget tbh but thats all it would need to keep you going for another year maybe

HD 7950 would be better but the HD 7850 is within the OP budget, but currently there's a B Grade HD 7950 and also 8GB RAM is better for gaming,

YOUR BASKET
1 x **B Grade** HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795QC3G2M) with FREE Sleeping Dogs, Nexuiz, & CODMW2 PC Games £169.99
1 x Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PXD38G1600LLK) £39.95
Total : £221.34 (includes shipping : £9.50).

But it makes no sense, a 7850 is not a viable upgrade over a 6950 regardless of budget.

6950's are decent cards, tbh they are really good. It will probably fetch a pretty penny, someone out there will want to Xfire them rather than buying a new gen single GPU.

Then you can get a 7950, which will be an increase in performance, a 7850 won't make a huge difference over a 6950, not worth spending £150 on anyway.

I would just overclock the CPU and get an 8gig RAM kit, that should do you for another year.

You can overclock the HD 7850 to similar performance to stock HD 7950

Depends on the card, you won't have the same performance of a 7950, clock speeds will be similiar but the rest of the specs remain the same. I think you are referring to a Tahiti 7870.

If I had a AM3+ compatibly motherboard (sadly mine is just AM3) I would be all over the 8350 upgrade and overclock the nuts off it.

that g-card isn't availible anymore you have posted this about 3 times now and it has been pointed out as being unavailiblle

maybe first see if any games you play are maxing out any 1 or more of your cpu cores, if so get the 8350, if not get a 7950, or even get another 6950 for crossfire!
