Just got this today. Not had chance to hook up to my PC yet but listened to some Music via Bluetooth - Spotify, Extreme quality. I tested with my MA900 and AKG K550.

This is my first experience using a Amp and to be honest am not that impressed!! I remember my Astro 2013 Mixamp having more punch and clarity than this.

I have it running a low gain which should be plenty for these headphones.. What's worrying me even further is I have some HD800 on there way to me and thinking am going to be disappointed all round.

Is there any settings I can change? I haven't hooked to PC so just running it blind, all though I have the app on my phone and disabled all the fake audio enhancement settings..

I notice there is a switch on the back to select 4 or 8ohms I have it on 4, am guessing this is more speakers though?

I plan to hook my phone up via USB and play flac music from it.

Is this x7 capable? Or do I have a fancy PC external card that can't compete with similar priced, dedicated amps?

As always thanks all!

The problem is likely Bluetooth. It's compressed audio. It's fine for convenience, but for real quality using USB or optical will be much better.

The 4 and 8 Ohm setting, is indeed for speakers.

Hook it up to your PC and then give it a try, you can't expect it to sound it's best unless you give it a decent source to work with.

I used an X7 for a week and it's just as good as the Asus Essence One MUSES edition (which I also trialled), which is a highly regarded DAC & Amp.
