Hi all just started with this folding lark - aka serious sciencetific endever, and have a few questions.

Running two threads on my p4 (3.0GHz 512MB) temps a bit high at 65-70 but real reason to write is FahMon is monitoring both threads but most of work unit info is 'N/A' is this normal for first run?
(project and downloaded are only item with values againest them)
 
It needs to download the other information for the WUs for it to know any more. Tell it to update new projects. If that still doesn't work wait a bit for the server on the other side to update to reflect the currently running work.

What projects do you have?
 
That makes sence as 1808 has 500k steps and is processing slowly, where as 1717 has 2000k steps and is flying.

My messages window show lots of error messages in connection with unitinfo.txt file - how do i update projects database?

Click on the FahMon menu and choose "Download new projects" this does exactly what it says on the tin :p and will download information about projects released since you last updated :)
 
did that - no joy

restarted computer, reinstalled FahMon. No more N/A just blanks instead :confused:

Don't worry about it, dude. If FahMon doesn't read the WU properly it's not the end of the world.

Be sure that Folding is running properly by checking your fahlog.txt files.

Got 30h & 41h left to run.

If I double the ram to 1Gig will it help with the folding?
Task manager is saying that I'm only using 300mb of my 5.

These are work machines so I can't OC them. Shame really as their high spec CAD machines and could easly acheive 10-15% OC on stock.
 
The time is whenever rich99million feels like doing it. :p It's usually in the early evening.

More memory can help with folding but only when you're running very large WUs, which are rare at the moment.

I'll be saving the stats around 5:30pm so will catch anything that's been submitted in time for the 5pm update at stanford
(all uk times btw)

both your WUs should make it alright - as long as it's on 24/7 of course :p
if not 24/7 then well it'll take a bit longer - work is saved when you close the client so it's all good :)

as long as your machine isn't getting low on RAM then upgrading to 1GB shouldn't make much difference - however some WUs can be pretty demanding
 
Most of my rigs are running at 1Gb RAM per core but they never use any more than about 300 Mb (and then only rarely) so 1GB for an X2 or 512Mb for single core will be plenty :)
 
lol sounds like a train.

The OcUK F@H News Update is running late this week due to leaves on the line just past folding.stanford.edu :p
