Advice pls on cpu exchange.

I currently have an Intel Core 2 Duo e6600

I have been offered to have it replace with the

Intel Quad Core Q6600

Are there any advantages and dissadvantages if I was to complete this exchange and what would you do if you was offered this?

Yup its a straight exchange because they never had any e6600 in stock and due to having it replaced twice before they agreed on exchanging it to this.

They said they had a dodgy batch of CPUs from Intel at the time I ordered, just called my account manager and he has dispatched the new CPU.

Will I notice much of a difference compared to my old e6600?

Games will run at about the same speed since most aren't multithreaded. When running lots of tasks it'll be much faster. Synthetic benchmarks like 3DMark06 will be much improved as well.

when properly multithreaded games come out it will be much faster than the E6600 would be :)

Should I now move to vista or should I stay with XP Pro?
