Righty, currently have a Hans G HW191D (19" WS) monitor.

Really can't decide on a new 22" WS (have new bigger desk now and fancy a change). Have been looking at the Samsung T220's, the Asus VH226H and Viewsonic VX2260wm.

The thing I also can't decide on, is what resolution to choose - the usual 1680x1050 or the full HD - 1920x1080 (can't help but think everything would look VERY small at this res).

So, can anyone help me out?

Thanks

You're right Full HD is a little small at 22" for desktop use. You can position it closer to compensate or buy one of the Ergotron LX desk mounts which will allow you to freely move it around as and when you need it closer/further away. I have two LX mounts on order for my VH226H monitors and I had hoped they would have have arrived by now!

I'll take a picture later. What distance are you looking for and how about it showing Solitaire, a browser window and a couple of other things? Also I received the LX mounts today so will get one fitted before taking a picture.

What about the Dell 2209WA? I was going to go for the VH226H until this threw a spanner in the works. It's about £30 more expensive than the Asus, but it's an E-IPS panel (basically a TN priced S-IPS panel but with better response times), so the colours will be much better on it, and the viewing angles will be better. It isn't full HD 1920*1080, but for the quality and price it looks to be a great panel.

It all depends what you need from it. If you need a lot of screen space or very fast response times (although the difference between 2ms and 6ms is unnoticeable to most people), then the full HD monitors are probably better for you, but if you need better viewing angles or colour representation, then maybe the E-IPS would be worth consideration?

Just noticed you said a screenshot. Are you just looking for a screenshot at Full HD resolution or a camera pic? :)

I setup one of the LX mounts and it's good to be able to freely move the monitor around.

Also I got my VH226H monitors for £146.99 each with free delivery so the price has increased recently and maybe you would be better going for the 2209WA regardless it's 1680x1050 especially if you are concerned about the desktop use at the higher res.
