Advice regarding GTX1070 issues

Hi,

I've bought Palit Gamerock GTX1070, it was installed last night and since install I had following issues.

Soon as I booted PC it would shutdown/restart 3 times before getting into Windows 10pro x64. This happened last night about 3/4 times. Today it starts without any issues and it's been ok.

Second issue I have is that there are artifacts on occasions on the screen when in games or running 3d mark benchmark (I took image of monitor, see below) this also happened in Browser while scrolling, though only once. Also it appears to happen more in game menus rather than game itself, but to early to say still trying/testing. After restart it is ok but then it starts to happen again. No overclocking done on Graphic Card or CPU.

I'm not sure if it's PSU related? though I had AMD 280X which did not had any issues, the only new Hardware is GTX 1070 and Dell S2716DG. Full Hardware details below.

Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H (latest bios)
i7 2600 / 12Gb Ram
Palit GeForce GTX 1070 GameRock
SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply
Crucial 512Gb SSD
Kingston 240Gb SSD
1TB SATA
USB 1Tb Drive
Dell S2716DG

I suspect it will get worse and I think it's Graphic card related!? Any advice much appreciated.

From the looks of it i'd guess it was a bad card mate.

From past experience them artifacts are what I used to get just before my cards used to fail.

Am I right in thinking your 280X would have used more power than the 1070? If so it's probably not the PSU causing the problem. So it could be a faulty GPU, compatibility issue with the motherboard or a driver issue.

I'd try doing a fresh install of Windows on a spare hard drive (or a new partition) just to rule out any driver / Windows problems, and go from there.

Thanks, indeed 280X used lot more power. Quick update after testing for last two hours. If I disable G-SYNC in Nvidia control panel those lines are gone!?
I did reinstall drivers, I'm using latest drivers 368.39. In last 10min found this on guru 3d forums.
GeForce Hot Fix driver, version 368.51 that addresses the following issue:
• Occasional desktop flicker when launching games on high refresh rate monitors.

I do hope that is the issue and not hardware related, I'll report back so it may help someone else with similar issues.

Edit: New Hotfix drivers (368.51) seems to have resolved the problem. They are not available to download via usual Nvidia Drivers download URL. It's on their Support page in case anyone happens to have same issue.

Make sure the card is well seated in the PCI-E slot and the display port connector is plugged in well, a loose connection can cause picture issues.
