Im planning to put together a new pc, will mostly be used for music production but I would not object to being able to play the odd game ;) Im on a fairly limited budget but would like any opinions....

If I could cut back a little in order to afford a graphics card that might be good, but would rather get a fast machine now and add graphics when I can afford something. Would that psu allow the option of adding a card later?
Have I forgotten anything?

Does that fit in your budget? Else you could buy the graphics card 2nd hand for about £40.

I would go with the above.....much better system and means you will if you want be able to game well with the 4850 instead of the not so good onboard i3 gfx.

Thanks guys.

The graphics card does look good for the £. Ive just remembered that I do have a GeForce 7800 going spare but I think it may be a little out of date now.

Ive always had seagate hdd's and they have served me well, do the Samsungs compare?

That psu looks good, will I just not need the extra power of the one I picked, or is that one actually better?

For most graphics cards up to an HD 5870 that 500W PSU will be fine. :)

Samsung F3s are great, had that one in my system for a while now.

would the above spec be better than this plus a graphics card?

also, would getting this psu allow me significantly more upgrade potential later on?

:)

Go AMD. the i3 is the lowest intel cpu. Most games don't use more than two cores and i've said this before on many budget system threads.....google phenom ii core unlocking.

A 555BE X2 will cost around £80 and there's a chance it's an X3 or even an X4. Get a decent aftermarket heatsink to help cool the unlocked cores or at the very least help OC the X2. Many 550s are running at 4GHz!

It's not a guarantee but the possibilty of getting an X4 for X2 money isnt to be sniffed at ;p

hmm. I have always had intel chips and been happy with them .

the Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard that comes with the i3 overclocked bundles is a microATX one. Is this bad? i would rather it was good than small.

I could possibly stretch to an i5 650 3.20GHz if that would be significantly better.
