Hello, I've not posted on the forums for a while, so please excuse my relative ignorance of memory matters. :)

I have a gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5, currently with 2x2gb gskill ripjaw modules. Recently I've noticed the system is getting a little sluggish/bottlenecking with full memory usage, and I'm thinking about a big upgrade at the start of next year. However, I wondered if a quick fix for now would just to be to upgrade (or add to) the system RAM. The motherboard supports a max of 16gb. max 12800 ddr3, dual channel. I'm led to believe that 4x4gb would be the best way to achieve 16gb capacity.

So, should I:

a) bung in an extra 4gb kit (2x2gb) to bring up to 8gb total
b) bung in an extra 8gb kit (2x4gb) to bring up to 12gb total - would this confuse the memory controllers, mixing different memory amounts/kits??
c) go for a full replacement (4x4gb) for 16gb
d) just live with it until next year when I go for a full mobo+cpu+ram upgrade

Just looking for discussion, what might be a good upgrade path. Cheers for any advice offered. :)

Current system CPU: i7 860, MOBO: GA-P55A-UD5, RAM: gskill ripjaw 2x2gb, GFX: Asus DirectCUII HD6970, SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 128GB, etc

that is fine Kingston ram is awsome and really 8gb is more than enough for todays games you only really need 16gb if your donig heavy graphics like CAD and such, if you get 1600mhz its a good speed and you can always use it on your new system later on
