Hi,

I hope that someone can help here.......

I have the MX3000 Cordless Keyboard and Laser mouse Desktop set. The battery light flashed recently to indicate a battery change. I did change the battery but now the mouse does not appear to work. I think there may have been a slight battery leakage at one of the terminals. I have cleaned it up, inserted new batteries and tried to get the receiver to detect the mouse. It does not. I did, however, notice that the mouse light at the bottom has not come on at all even with the new batteries, which is a bit worrying. BTW, The keyboard is working fine.

I have tried the mouse detection test as advised from the Logitech site but no luck.

Any ideas what could be wrong, what I should be looking for and how I could fix the problem?

Thanks a lot.

Logitech have excellent customer service. Give them a ring, number will be on their site and see if they can help.

Thanks Guys for your advice.

I was actually thinking of the returning the product to PC World and get them to check/replace it as I believe it has a 3-year warranty as I bought this last June but I will call Logitech first, as suggested.

Would the "battery leakage" void any warranty?
The terminals don't look that bad actually and the mouse has been working perfect with the old batteries. I did not think that changing batteries would actually "kill it"

Thanks.

You should probably remove the name of the store as it is considered a competitor but you could try to return it to them and see if they will do a straight swap and deal with Logitech for you or just phone Logitech as suggested because they do have very good customer support normally. :)

I rather meant you to edit out the name, there should be a little blue button at the bottom right of all your posts with "edit" on it. Sorry if this sounds cheeky but some people don't notice it. :)

Hi,

I called Logitech and they were helpful. I appeared to have done all the checks already and the mouse is playing up. I should see a green light underneath the mouse but I don't, even with new batteries.

Basically, if the mouse/keyb were under 12 mths old, I could get a replacement at the store I purchased it from but mine is about 14 mths, so Logitech have said that I should provide them with the purchase info from receipt and the info under the keyboard. I have been given a Call Ref Number. Logitech said they will send a replacement Keyboard & Mouse (same or next spec if current one unavailable). I then need to give them some "pieces" of the keyboard and return it to them. This is so that the item is made unusable and cannot be re-used for resale, as I understand it.

The problem now is digging out the reciept :)

I have FAXed Logitech a copy of my credit card statement as a proof of purchase and I am awaiting a confirmation that they have got it. Normally takes up to 48hrs.

bla bla is hardly a competitor, their customer service is rock bottom and when you want somthing they never have it and besides OC offer great products at low prices, if i went in pcworld looking to buy a 8800 gtx they would look at me confused lol :p

Its a rule that your breaking.
Although they make not be much of a competition in terms of stock. They are still classed as a competitor.
If I were either of you I would edit your posts and remove the name before an admin does.

I don't even use the named 'competitor' as there prices are so high compared to OcUK. If I want to try things I would go somewhere like there but I would always buy elsewhere unless forced to.

That may well be true but they are classed as a competitor because they sell components for PCs, whether you would choose to purchase from them is relatively unimportant to their classification. For what it is worth unless I was pretty desparate I wouldn't but that doesn't mean that naming them will not fall foul of the rules. Also you have removed the first mention of them from your post but not the second. :)
