Help
I already have one WD 160GB Sata1 drive and wanted to add another hard drive.
My Intel desktop motherboard D875PBZ has two sata connectors.
I installed the Sata drivers when setting up my first hard drive
From Ocuk I purchased a new Caviar 250GB 16MB 7200 Sata11
Installed drive ok, fired up PC with winxp pro ok, went through all of the setup sequence, quick format.
It went through the first sequence, PC rebooted, then stopped saying corrupt install.
Rebooted but could not get into my bios, now back to my original drive.
Restarted PC umpteen times no luck.
What have I done wrong? or has the drive fried!! unfortunately I haven't got another PC to try the drive.

I've seen something similar with a WD drive on an older board. Try putting a jumper across the pins on the back of the drive to set it to SATA1 mode - there should be a label on the top of the drive which shows you which pins to use.

Pins on the drive as follows.
pins 5&6 enable SATA 150MB/s only operation, whatever that means!

Tried the rest, nothing about sata1 on the back.

Update

Tried all the pins positions no luck, still can't get into my bios.
When I first started up the pc with the new hard drive I went strait into the bios to make sure it recognized the drive.
Which it did, the full 250.
Then I booted from my CD, the rest I explained.
Strange!!
