Advised needed RE ECC regisitered RAM

Hi all,

Currently purchasing some RAM in the MM which after a google of the part number shows it is ECC Registered, which as i understand it is for servers?

Can anyone tell me if this will work with my current desktop rig.

RAM details;

HMT351R7EFR8A-H9 Hynix Semiconductor - DDR3L SDRAM Registered DIMM PC3L-10600R-9-12-B1

if it says it supports it then it should work

I know 100% ecc ram works fine on gigabyte x58,cant see h55 being any different

Gigabyte specs say "Support for non-ECC memory modules" it doesn't say anywhere else about memory, to me that's suggest it supports both but i can't find any other info on it.

I did find this in the FAQ's

Q. How to determine if the motherboard supports ECC memory or not?

A. Currently Gigabyte motherboards with Intel chipsets of i975/X38/X48 series supports both ECC and non-ECC memory’s. Details on other models please refer to user’s manual or Gigabyte official website for ECC memory support status.
 
ive seen ecc memory working fine on x58 but havnt seen anyone on h55 using it so not 100% sure

if you don't wanna take the risk it would be better to buy 8gb or regular ddr3

EDIT,wont the seller let you test it first? then pay or return it ect

The RAM is sealed, i've asked if the sale can be cancelled.

If you do have to risk it for a chocolate biscuit, let us know how it goes. Ive heard people using their HP mini servers with 2gb ecc and 2gb non ecc with no issues, except for there being no effective ECC, which is not a big deal.
