Affect vs effect

Would you borrow me 5 minutes to learn me how to use all these words? I bought my notepad with me

This reminds me of my sister-in-law, she said to me, "Can I lend your vacuum cleaner?"
I said, "Maybe, but who will you lend it to?"
She didn't understand that, and looked perplexed, I was about to explain to her the difference between
lend and borrow, when I thought, "Is it worth it, she'll only say, you know what I MEANT."

Really? People confuse lend and borrow? Must be a regional thing; never seen that in my life.

Well, she’s a dyed in the wool South Londoner, but I’m not going to damn all Londoners, by saying that it’s a London thing, especially as I’m a Londoner too, and I’ve always known the difference.
In the same vein, she is wont to say, “Can you borrow me X”, when she means, “Can you lend me X.”
 
The affect of me punching the OP in the face had a negative effect on my OcUK popularity... or was it positive, I can't tell the difference....
