Pros and cons if you dont mind, anything else I should consider?

I know it is more of a compact but , you know what I mean. I hope!

The Panasonic G3 isn't a bridge camera, it is an interchangeable lens mirror-less camera based on the micro four thirds (m43) platform.

Do you want a bridge camera or a compact systems camera with interchangeable lenses?

The difference is that a bridge camera has a tiny sensor which allows it to have a massive zoom range on its built in lens. But the lens is fixed and the small sensor does not give very good image quality. A camera like the Panny g3 and other mirrorless systems cameras have much larger sensors and you have to change the lenses based on what type of photography you are doing. The bigger sensor requires bigger lenses and you will get less reach and zoom range, but much better image quality.

Mrs cant get on with the canon 600 i have, in fact she hates it. I know the G3 is better than most bridge cameras [in the right hands] but, swapping lenses might put me back in the same situation.

Just want something that she can use but, also be handy for me i guess.

A bridge camera can be as bulky as the Canon 600d. I had an old Fujifilm S200EXR bridge camera and the quality was very good for day scenes and portraits will plenty of light, but it suffered with noise indoors and with fast moving objects. If you are going for a bridge, then you might consider getting a dslr with cropped frame (like the 600d) and popping an 18-300mm lens on it. That will cover every day use and you will not need to change lens. Then stick the camera in Auto mode for the missus.

Again, the G3 is not a bridge camera, it is totally a different kind of system.

Why does your Mrs hate the 600D, The fuss of changing lenses? In which case a G3 will be just as bad.

I love the lumix 4/3's g range, I own a g3 there a bargain atm used or new with the 14-42 kit lens (the lens is a bit bulky ), or buy a body and choose a cheap pancake lens or the newer version lenses which are 1/2 the depth so pack up smaller.

best 4/3's camera, size / spec wise there is imo, the gh2 are very good but quite a bit bigger and the gf3's etc have no viewfinders.

but yes agree the fz range of Panasonic bridge cameras are actually more bulky.
