Ive had After Effects CS3 for awhile now but ive always been able to export Quicktime movies with Sorenson Video 3 compression.

Last night I installed a newer version of Quicktime (7.4.5) because firefox was crashing, but now im missing the option of using Sorenson Video 3 and a few others.

The timings not great as i have a project due for this week. But i can make do with a different compression for now. I just liked the export speed and Quality of SV3.

Im not expecting tones of responses, but was curious if any one had any thoughts.

Thanks
Conal

you could reinstall the codec http://www.sorensonmedia.com/downloads/SorensonVideo_3.1.exe maybe the quicktime installer unregistered it, so windows can't see it. Did the installer try to set default extensions for quicktime? Anyway, according to one of the authors of ffdshow( wikipedia), its just a tweaked version of H264, my second favourite next to xvid. Maybe you could just try using that instead?

lord filbuster thanks for link, sadly it doesnt look like it helped. Though Premiere Pro is letting me export as Sorenson Video 3 - very odd. maybe ill just re-install AE.

Its not the end of the world, its just that Sorenson Video 3 was a hell of a lot quicker to export than H264, nice quality too. i think ill give a re-install/repair a go.

$loth no problem. :) Its called Multi Media. Its an amazing little course. Im glad i managed to find something like it over here (Ireland) Just to give you an idea since the name doesnt say so much, some of the things we do; HTML/java ect ,2D/3D animation, film making+photography, IT , and a tiny bit of sound production. - I think thats nearly all of my pc/mac based interests. i got really lucky :)
