I've just purchased vista home premium so that i can prepare for some DX10 goodness (which i know will probably take a while!). However, for some reason after shutting down my computer i can instantly reboot it by simply pressing the mouse button on my microsoft intellimouse explorer 3 USB mouse.

Whilst this may seem a 'cool' feature, i would kind of like to turn it off, but i can't find any way of doing it as there doesn't seem to be any settings for wake on USB in my MB bios (P5WDH Deluxe), therefore can anyone suggest a way of turning this 'feature' off?

Many thanks

its definately shutting down instead of going to sleep? iirc, vista defaults things like the shutdown button on start menu/power button to sleep and mouse/keyb activity should waken it.

try going to start then arrow next to the padlock icon, then shutdown, then see if you can click the mouse to see if it does the same thing?

I'm using the 'classic' look in Vista, so it is certainly shutting down rather than going into sleep mode (as i'm selecting from the drop down menu)

That was my initial thought too, however, i can't find an option anywhere to turn it off and i've been through every menu and sub menu. Perhaps the option is called something that isn't obvious?

it should be in the APM/ power management menus,

What motherboard is it?
There will be loads of other options, like power on from PS/2 WOL ACPI 2.0 etc

Have a fiddle with them.

control pannel, click on the system props for your mouse and power management tab. Untick allow this device to wake up the computer
