After some general views/advice on cooling 5900X

Update: I got a Peerless Assassin 120. It's a lot smaller than my old cooler, but based on my testing this evening seems to keep the temp under 70C. Thanks for the recommendation.

My next challenge is now I have more thermal headroom how I can get it to draw more power. It seems to top out around 155W despite me having set PPT well over 200W.

Excellent air coolers. The Frost Commander 140 serves me well.

seems excellent. I bought a second hand case for £50 with a custom loop for my 5900x. Even cleaning it all out etc goes above 70. At least tis quiet :(

I spoke a bit too soon on temps, I removed a negative voltage offset and it's got as high as 76C. But it's pretty good for a cooler that cost £26.90 delivered, the main thing was I wanted to stop it hitting the 90C throttle limit. It was pretty easy to install although the instructions were super unclear about the fan clips, youtube vid helped with that.

The other benefit is it gave me an excuse to move it into a more modern case that I'd been putting off due to the hassle of shifting stuff around, goodbye 24 year old Enlight 7237, hello 22 year old Chieftec Dragon :)

I will suggest to use a fan on the back plate of your GPU- a 92 mm fan is the best as I tested against 120mm fan. The fan is simply just seat it using rubber mountings as stands- will reduce vibration of the fan and allow the fan to suck enough air. Needs to go in pull config, not push.
Have a look at this video, is short and informative 10C less on your GPU is worth considering.

Since you don't like to change things often I would go for Fractal Torrent Compact or the bigger one. Is the best case I see ATM. Will keep your parts cooled for an extended future. I regret enough, I couldn't get the Fractal was to expensive when I chose my case. I can easy say that my Lian Li OD 11Dynamic XL is inferior in many aspects to Fractal Torrent. If only take in consideration 140mm fan support of Fractal, even as exhaust is huge advantage just there. 2x 180mm fans in front of the case is excellent while the grills are much better than Lian Li.
