I've just set a custom fan curve for my 5850, But I was wondering does it need to be open for this to be applied? For example if I restart without it opening, Will it just revert back to stock fan speeds?

If thats the case, Is it 'safe' to flash the 5850's with Atiflash/RBE? Or is that a no go with these cards? Ive been out of the loop for a while.

I think it has to be open for the fan profile to work.

Someone's sure to come along and correct me if I'm wrong.

I set it to open at start-up but run from the system tray. I think it configures itself to do this by default if you say 'apply profile at start-up'. If not, there are a few checkboxes in the settings somewhere.

yeah, this is what I do, works perfectly for me, with the added bonus of monitoring temps, load, framerate etc
