age of conan

Got to level 50 something, then they comeplely decimated my class (serves me right for going hybrid).

Mostly annoyed at the huge dick-move of hiding that the game was instanced till 2-3 before release.

If they'd been straight with it from the start then they would know who their player base were, allowing them to cater for them. Instead they hid it just to get the pre-order/first month revenue, then lost everyone.

Then they rename 'Dark Days Are Coming' to 'The Secret World' - I mean, what the ****? Such a terrbile title.

Dark Days are Coming was never the name of the game it was always just marketting tool.

I agree though the reason i wont ever trust funcom again is they simply lied through their teeth right up until launch, no pvp system, no raids implemented, the nature of the game (instancing) none of it was talked about at all so in the end what we were expecting and what we were delivered were two totally different things.

Suppose i'll poke my head up and say i am still an active AoCer

Since the start most of the original devs and managers have been told where to shove it, brought on board instead were a few more smart people from funcoms anarchy online days as such the creative developments to the game are starting to show

Recently we saw the introduction of Tier 3 where we can finally show Thoth-Amon who's boss, featuring 7 bosses all in 1 map (no split like T2 Black Ring Citadel or Tier 1 Yakmar, Vistrix, Kylikki. Loot design is unfortunately similar as it was intended the first 3 tiers would be able to mixed-and-matched so you didnt look like some sort of freak)

The raid looting system has been bolstered with a token system, theoretically allowing for less rot/greater distribution and choice on loot

Guild renown is now in place complete with 20 levels packed full of rewards for people to waste their time with (including a list of the top 20 guilds containing members with no life :p )

DX10 has been sort of implemented for a long time, if youve got a beast of a PC (why am i saying if, this is OcUK) then it looks graphically astounding

The expansion is well under way (Rise of the Godslayer) set to deliver Tier 4+ raiding with completely new loot design to match the setting of the expansion in Khitai towards the end of Q1/start of Q2 2010 i believe. Khitai, will contain content areas from levels 20-80 along with a faction system and rewards

There have been some new zones and dungeons added since launch:

Xibuluku in Thunder Rivers' Prison Colony (Level 80 Group Dungeon)
Commons District (between Old Tarantia and Noble District, covering levels 74+)
Iron Tower in the commons district (Level 78+ Group Dungeon)
Cistern and Main System in noble district were revamped (this is no longer a social dungeon and bosses are quite well thought out now, with one having been dubbed "Bomberman")

My lunch break is ending now but i think ive covered most major aspects of the game in the past 6-8months

Biggest killer for me in this game as with many MMOs these days is raids - I just cannot be bothered with them anymore. Any raid that takes more than 1 hour simply isn't possible, got other things to do and don't want to be stuck at the PC all evening.

God I remember days of 8hour + raids, never again! I really, really enjoyed AOC though and miss wandering about on my own :)

seriously do some of you know what you are talking about !!!????

FYI - DX10 support was added like a year ago. I have played the game on and off - I have 7 chars that are lvl 80. If you only played this game the first 3 months after launch then I believe you missed out on some key parts and that if I were in your position I wouldn't make any final judgement.

I am asking if anyone has recently played or currently playing. If there are still some people active ? and has there been new content since AoK & Tarantia Common District were added last summer?

Thx MBK, from what I gather not much has been added since last summer then. Are servers still populated? I still have 5 other chars that are 60+ and I was thinking of getting them to 80

Got my character up to level 37 on PVP. Very difficult to find quests after 30 and grinding was dull.

Every human real life player attacked me on sight, immediately. Especially a few seconds after I'd spawned. Especially if they could easily beat me (so nothing to be gained for them but the lolz -- they still did it time and time and time again. So you ended up upon spawning just sprinting as fast as you could away from the spawn point for the 10 seconds of your invulnerability -- and even then someone PROBABLY was following you just to kill you again for the lolz.

They made a big deal about it being an 'adult' MMO. This just means 'A few people get beheaded' and 'There are girls with their breasts out, and corpses stuck onto sticks and things'.

Not my idea of a laugh. Don't bother mate. Too many other better MMOs

i don't play PvP as ganking ain't my cup of tea. but there are tons of quest - this was true for the first couple of months after launch. Now there have added many quests/dungeons as well as completely new areas of the game, as well as some major improvements to classes, game balance and many other features (crafting, mini pvp, etc....) just too long to mention.

You don't need to grind anymore - maybe just a bit between lvl 72-76 and that is debatable. It isn't the same game as it was at launch.

aye well their big patch was t3 since then which of course is purely end game content, along with renown, pvp revamp, raid loot revamp. There was also meant to be House of Crom added as another social dungeon (think Onyx) but that seems to have slipped through the net...or i haven't noticed yet. Either way i hate "social" dungeons anyway.

they recently did another merge so as far as EU Eng servers go there is one of each type:

Crom - PVE
Fury - PVP
Aquilonia - PVP/RP
Hyrkania - PVE/RP

Whilst its nothing on the early days activity is picking up again with guilds as Tier 3 has added an injection of new challenges, some new loot, and some new world/server firsts to be had to stroke some egos.

There is much less of a "grind" now than there used to be, thanks mainly to commons to try and fill in that mid 70s void between low end khesh and high end khesh. although its been a while since ive bothered to level another toon to 80.

Obviously Rise of the Godslayer will add a boat load of content and that is main focus of the dev team at this stage as such the current content that exists in the current regions is probably all we shall see now

just a progression, similar artwork, similar stat setup (bar some juggling on the soldier sets) for tier 3, your existing loot is unchanged (unless you havent logged on since before 1.05 in which case you have the switch to gear-centric stats to deal with)
