As title, I cant read many web pages on my iphone as it randomly boots me out of safari back to the normal 'home' screen at any time, could be 2 mins, usually 5-ish mins, does this happen to anyone ? It usually happens when I scroll down the page, whats point of a web browser if you cant use it

Sometimes happens to me aswell - what I thought it might be is that the phone has run out of ram and terminates the application? Might be well, well off with that one though!

Have you upgraded the firmware to the latest? If not, give that a crack :)

My touch kicks me off Safari if i view very graphically heavy websites. Doesn't boot me off as often as you though.

If its happening on all different sites a lot, I would recommend doing a backup and restoring your iphone/ipod touch using itunes and see how it goes after, but unfortunatly its quite common for the safari app to crash on graphics heavy sites, like apple.com lol

Never happened to me. Touch wood.

What firmware are you running? Version 2.0 was famously buggy but for most users 2.1 has made an improvement. I would restore the phone and start again.

Only option is to return it to 1.1.4.

Can be done if you downgrade iTunes to 7.5, restore, refurbish the baseband, and then unlock again. There are some good videos on the tube that show you how to do it.

This happens to me too, but not so often that I've bothered downgrading iTunes & firmware. As mentioned, it's more likely to happen when browsing a graphics heavy site or having multiple windows open. Sure I've read that resetting the device (hold sleep & home simultaneously temporarily) can improve stability for a short while.

Can only hope that it will be ironed out in 2.2 as Safari is having some changes made to it. Hopefully these will include bug fixes also.

I'm sure I read somewhere about a large proportion of crashes back to the home screen being related to folder permissions on phone's OS. There is a Bossprefs (unlocked only) option to "fix" them. I do get the odd crash in Safari, usually when scrolling or zooming, but since 99% of the time starting Safari again takes me back to exactly the same page, I've never really been that bothered.

The normal Safari bails reasonably often for me as well. Surprisingly it doesn't seem to be Flash's fault when scanning through the crash report.

This is currently a huge problem with my missus' phone. Not so much on mine though it does crash often when viewing very graphically heavy websites. She took it into the Apple store today and they said it was definitely a problem with the actual phone, and will be replacing it under warranty.

I guess Flash certainly won't be appearing then, if it can't even handle normal text and pictures!
