Hi guys

I've convinced my gf to remove her 9800 AIW as she has never used any of it's functions and I expect she'll get around £40 ish give or take, with this I'd like to get a replacement AGP card to fit in alongside her XP2800+ and 1 gig ram I can either grab a cheap 5900 ultra for around £25 or maybe try and get the 9800XT for £40-50 now given she uses her rig mainly for ebay etc and I hop on for the occaisional game of JK2 and RTCW etc in fact most recent game we have is Far Cry.

What say ye great god's of bit's and bobs ?

The AIW can fetch more if you advertise it correctly, i.e. the features your gf did not make use of :D

I'd say go for the 9800XT ;) Got a 9800 PRO & amazed with what it can still handle

Thats what i was thinking, although the AIW may be a bit slower, it can still handle those games.

edit: According to ATi's comparison, the AIW is exactly the same as the 9800pro, but the AIW has ddr2 so that means its actually faster

yup keep it what is the point of sellin it for 40 and buying a diff card for 25 u make 15 bucks hardly worthwhile now is it

I don't see how a 9800aiw can be as good as a 9800pro when you can get a 9800pro aiw which isnt any different to the normal 9800pro.

It's defo not a PRO it's only got 4 pipes enabled which trust me makes a hell of a difference I've looked around a few benchmark sites and the 9600xt was faster than the 9800se. the reason for selling is simple we can buy a part which performs the same functions with better results ( bearing in mind we don't use AIW functions at all ) and actually make something on it. hell if you could sell your cpu and buy a replacement cpu + make £10 on it it's be worthwhile wouldn't it ?

as I say on games such as JK2 and RTCW there may be no difference ( but AFIK NV's were better on GL gfx based games anywho ) plus with an additional 4 pipes open farcray won't drag it's a$$ any more, I'm not looking for an answer to a moral dilema such as should I - shouldn't I sell merely what's a better outlay of the funds I get when I do sel. of course anyone wishes to offer me a 6800gt for £40 notes to settle this debate please feel free ;)
