My experience of the Gainward 7800gs+ 512mb AGP the card i have overclocks very well though to be honest its quick enough at stock scoring around 7700 in 3dmark05 i upgraded from a 6800gs which unlocked pipes and vertex the 7800gs+ gave me a nice increase in performance i wanted pcie performance without the hassle of a mobo change was never going SLI on a 7 series card i will now wait for Geforce 9 or ATI equivlent about 1 year i figure then i will get the latest board with the latest tech for my move to sli and pcie.

Stock card performes very nicly at this speed
Core 450 mem 1250

Overclock a nice free boost
Core 580 mem 1500

3dmark05 1024-768 default settings 9347

Temps
Idle 50c
Load 75c

Far Cry with 64bit for 32bit os patch
1280-1024 Everything set at Max including AA plays fantastic (Multisample)

BF2 with 1.4 Patch
1280-1024 Graphics High AA max plays fantastic

I am sure the 7800gs+ will go a little higher but i will relax the overclock to 550 core 1400 mem for everyday use.

I am interested in scores people have for there 7800gs+ AGP or 7900gt PCIE NOT SLI

Welcome to the forums.

Before we start with helping you out, could you sort out your sig please :)

From the FAQ:

When you post, there is an option to use your signature. A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text. If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels. If you want to turn the signature off in the future, you can come back and edit your post. If you have specified a signature in your profile, the box will be automatically ticked for you.

shrink the font size down a little too, makes it a bit neater.

also you can overclock higher and stick to your overclocks if the card is stable. no point backing off for no reason, unless there is a reason sucah as artifacts, lockups or too much heat.

I got no artifacts or lockups and the temps never changed that much over the 550/1400 temps wet up 2c idle 5c load with max overclock

I want this card to last so i thought 550 1400 lets me play all my games at max when i get a game i cant play at max settings i will up the overclock

Top performance from that 7800GS there mate, and what an overclock you got.... did not realise this was such a hot AGP card.

I new it would be quick but was really suprised how quick compared to my 6800gs 16/6 and the IQ is alot better than the 6 series card
