AGP GeForce Ti4200 64MB vs. AGP GeForce 6200 256MB

:) Try get a 256MB as 128MB has been around since I has my Ti4600, you will benifit more and fact is the 128 is only ddr, the 256 is ddr3 lot cooler and better overall esp more than cards with ddr2.

BEAN, give us a max price in £ please that you are willing to spend, then we can see if you get a 6600GT and what kinda ram.

100 pounds (no symbol on my keyboard)

This is an ABSOLUTE LIMIT! Not going over this and i'd like very much to spend less. I've just spent about 2k on holidays in the last 3 weeks, so i'm a bit short on money at the mo....

Ok not a lot of choice here today in stock but look dont get lesser card for sake of £12.

Leadtek WinFast GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-050-LT)

Price: £84.95 (£99.82 Including VAT at 17.5%)

or better still for extra £12, that you may regret later if you dont pay

OcUK GeForce 6600 GT 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-036-OK)

Price: £94.95 (£111.57 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Now both are ddr3 (gddr3 really), 1 had 128MB and other has 256MB, now Leadtek is a good brand since there award winning G-Force 3 range, but thats shown in price, on other hand the other card is a OCUK branded card if you dont mind this fact and thats reflected in cheap price compaired to other branded cards with same spec being £130+.

The 128MB is DDR3

The 128MB 6600GT is £99 here inc VAT, the 256MB is £111 inc VAT

In all honesty the X800GTO 256MB for £117 inc VAT is a better buy than the 6600GT but it's getting even more expensive

You could consider an X1600Pro - the 256MB version of these retails for £93. They're a little slower than the 6600GT though

What about B-Grade stock (link)? You can get this:

**B Grade** XFX GeForce 6600 GT 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT43AUDF7) (BG-015-XF)
Originally sold at £149.95+VAT

Price: £70.00 (£82.25 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Dont buy a dx9b/p.s 2.0 card today like any X800/850, stick to newer cards, without trying to confuse him, Id stick to his orignal Nvidia idea, that "B" grade seems good deal if its working 100% and its XFX not sure on rest of info as there aint much.

I mean where do you draw the line, its temping when you see a Asus 6800GT 128Mb for £117 on "B" grade

Still better with 256Mb for few £ more IMO, 128MB was kicking it back when G-Force Ti 4600 was king but not today.

B-Grade stock is usually returned stock

It's guaranteed for 14 days and I've bought it before. Often it just comes in a white box with no manuals, drivers, etc but you don't need these as you can get the latest drivers from the web

Thanks all for the info. I know it sounds daft but i'm not going to push the price up another 10 quid since i might as well then go up another 20 and then so on..... 100 is my limit so i'm going to stick to that.

Just so you all know, I actually don't live in the UK and I'm a expat in Vienna, Austria so it's no problem ordering from the UK as my parents can then forward on to me but with B grade stock i'd have to be very careful since it could take a lot longer than 14 days to return if I had to do that.

So it's definately a 6600GT 128MB now. Now the question is....which brand and are there any passive ones around at my price range. I found a Gigabyte 6600GT Passive for €189 (130 pounds) so just wondering who else does one. Just to note I've already checked out the Asus one and that too is very expensive (€175 - at least over my budget).

Another tempting thing would be to put my Zalman GPU heatsink on the new card, but i'd rather not fry that one too

More ideas people! Cheers :D

I follow you about a extra £10 then "ohh what the hell another £10" thats £20 more, but you may regret in games not paying a mere £12 for the 256MB, I assure you, you will if not now, soon.

That or the "B" grade item seems very attractive, you dont need anything more, its not got extra power leads thats aint on your PSU as it is, and you grab newest REAL Nvidia driver from www.nvidia.com
