I currently have a nvidia 6800GT 256mb
What's the best card I can still get that is AGP
I want to keep my current rig but its just the graphics letting it down.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

The best card on the AGP platform is a 3850, if I recall. They cost more than they're PCI-E counterpart but I'm sure you understand why.

Out of stock at OcUK, but I'm sure a brief Google search will land you in the right direction, if you insist on keeping with your trusty rig.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have found some and the price ain't too bad.
Its cheaper than upgrading my whole system anyway. My old rig does everything I want except play DOD:source like it used too.
I have never had an ATI card though. Been with Nvidia since I started with PC's

If i remember the THG review, the 4650 AGP isnt as good performance-wise, but has the added advantages of low power consumption and the general 4-series.

Isnt there a 4670 AGP out as well?.. I would imagine that that would be the winner overall tbh..

You are being let down by more than just graphics... AGP peaked with AMD X2 CPUs and those are weak by todays standards, especially for games.

If you want a new GPU get the X1950 PRO 512.

You will most likely start hitting CPU bottlenecks anyway with this card, not to mention the higher end models.

On a related note I have a 3850 AGP I want to sell :)

Downgraded the PC I bought it for for family use and have it boxed waiting for fleabay or something.

No members market for another few months yet -_-

Thanks for all the replies. I don't know what to do now.
I think maybe its time for an upgrade really.

Not a bad idea. I'm curious to know what your current rig is. I had an AGP machine replaced April of last year. It was a really big step, and it was well worth it. I did look about for AGP solutions but it was delaying the inevitable, for myself.

I built my current rig in 2006 I think...

AMD 3800+ running at 2.748 Mhz
Abit AV8 3rd eye
Nvidia 6800GT
Corsair XMS 3500pro 2GB
Creative fatality X-FI Soundacard
WD Raptor 34GB for main OS
WD 80GB for everything else

All in a Thermaltake Tai Chi watercooled case.

Windows index score....(on windows 7 rtm)

Processor..... 4.4
Memory ....... 4.4
Graphics ...... 5.9
Gaming Graphics .... 4.8
Primary hard disk ... 5.6

I know deep down its time to upgrade but its been such a good machine and had really only just started struggling with games and photoshop.
Everything else it flies through.
