Aguero Retires

I have no idea how insurance works for footballers but I would've thought Barca would be covered given his history of injuries. That's based on the assumption they actually chose to pay for insurance :o

When you're letting Messi go on a free or whatever it was I wouldn't mind betting fiscal planning of that kind might not have happened, or been spent even if it was proposed.

One report mentioned he was having heart issues.:(
Yep, that's the reason he's retiring. He had a similar issue when he was 12, a heart operation when he was 15 and collapsed during a match against Nigeria in 2017. He also had COVID in June so whether it's a result of that, a side effect of the vaccine, not sure he's had it or not, or just fate isn't known.

Absolute monster of a player in his prime and one of the big reasons for Citys success over the past decade. Gave me one of my worst moments in football when he stole the title from us :p

He's had two(!) doses of covid and no doubt also 2 doses of vaccine in the last 12months. None of that will have done his heart any good.

Sad news you could see he was devastated in his press conference :(

thanks for being arguably one of the best strikers over the last 10 years or whatever , certainly in the premier league

You get the feeling that his heart wasn't in it anymore.
Brushing aside the pun, I'm gonna say something a bit controversial here, and he would probably take offence if he read it. I'm being a bit out of order to be fair, as I don't have sufficient evidence to make these claims, and have done insufficient research into the issue causing him to retire...

A few months back, I had a theory that he literally didn't want to play for Barca once Messi left, one of the main reasons he joined. He had some sort of injury that kept him out for ages. Then when that's done, he comes back and has a heart issue. So in the end he's barely played, less than 180mins in the league for Barca, less than 20mins in Europe etc. He's essentially played a couple of games since the season started. It just sounded like a big smokescreen to let everyone save face, contract mutually terminated, he can go and do what he wants, Barca don't have to pay his wages but also don't have the embarrassment of carrying him around for years.

One of those rare players that everyone liked. Legend

Yeah, never heard a bad word about him honestly which is super rare these days. Just seemed to love playing football and was easily one of the best PL strikers ever.

Totally. And a natural predator in the box. He made things look so easy.
