Oh well, up the job centre tomorrow, should be good for a laugh to see how the situation's improved there since January.
Good luck, last time I went in it was a mess - 'oh we've had loads of people like you in recently' ie skilled or semi-professional 'there's no jobs' I asked about training 'none of that either'

Then I was told they'd only pay my NI stamp because in the last 12 months I'd not paid enough NI contributions... Well duh, after being made redundant I lived off my redundancy payout instead of claiming jsa for 5 months whilst looking for work, saving the taxpayer money... but apparently they only take into consideration the last 12 months. 'What about the last 5 years of continuous employment and income tax and NI contributions
before I was made redundant?' I asked 'Oh, they don't count...'
I could wait and start a 'fresh claim' for jsa, but that would take 6 months

it used to be 12 weeks, but it has been increased to 6 months 'due to the economic downturn'

sooo.... less help for those who need it then?
That was 3 months ago.

I've had some crappy warehousing job since then, but that finished.
None of the people who work for the Joke Centre have any compassion and as such I wouldn't make water on them if they were on fire.
Also be aware that in the zanulabour welfare state you only get 180 days in which you are allowed to claim jsa in a 12 month period (runs from january to january) and once you've used some or all of it up... yer on yer own sunshine.
Same old same old, if you're a total scrounger, you get jsa, income support, housing & council tax benefit, crisis loans and all sorts, but if you can be bothered to work for a living and fall on hard times through no fault of your own you get FA.
Sorry to put a downer on things but that's my experience of the joke centre.
