I just put a new Corsair S128 SSD into my Toshiba A300 U01 laptop, then reinstalled Vista etc. I have noticed that the laptop now boots up faster than before but I don't belief the speeds are that spectacular. However, in the BIOS I have AHCI enabled, does this make a difference?

None or very little difference. I'm sure leexgx will give you some tips or something, he has that drive and reports good results.

What kind of things are you doing to notice the speeds? Copying or opening large image or movie files = not so fast. Playing games and loading applications should be good.

Now that I have had a chance to play and compare my laptop to my desktop I have changed my mind, there is a significant increase in speed. Please ignore

What does AHCI actually do?

I should be installing my new G.Skill 128Gb SSD tomorrow, should I enable AHCI then install Windows 7?
