AHCI Hack and windows 8

Unfortunately I failed to set my BIOS to AHCI when I winstalled 8 On my SSD/HDD setup. (A common error it would seem :( )

Now of course I cant change it and I would like to because my SSD performance is the poorest performer by far in my WE score (Only 7.3! I am hoping that this oversight is the cause of this)

I have found the "Reg Hack" solution for Win7 (Which I guess forces Win to load the appropriate drivers on reboot)

But I cannot find the "Msahci" entry in the Win8 registry directory that the hack refers too.

Is it (The Hack) a different procedure for win 8? If so what is it? (If not, what am I doing wrong? )

Any help greatly appreciated.

yes its different, goodle enable ahci win8 and it should come up

here enable ahci without re install for windows 8

CurrentConfiguration\Services\storahci\startoverride

In that folder, the key/Dword was 0 with a value of 3. Change the value of 3 to 0.

Reboot

Enter Bios

Enable AHCI

Restart

Failed to find drives

Restarted again into bios

Checked AHCI confi, said it detected all drives

Restarted again

Been playing with AS SSD and it would appear that mine is still slow as #### :(

R/W 198/58! :(

It is a Kingston SVP200S3120G on an asrock fatal1ty 990FX pro

It is working in AHCI and trim is enabled.

So what do I do now??

Using ATTO (Assuming I am interpreting it correctly) things don't look so bad.

(Now for the embarrassing bit)

how do you post images? I have never posted my "Own" images before! only other peoples that have a link.

:o

Upload to tinypic.com post forum url here

To take screenshot use snipping tool in windows accessories

Here is the AS SSD result

The ATTO is being a bit more problematic. I have saved results but they appear to be in a proprietary format that is not recognised as an image file by the file host.

Bear with me...

Here we go...

Just for fun I also have a report on my HDD setup (2 x 1Tb in software mirror)

Is everything working correctly or not? And if not, what can I do about it?

Cheers :)

Thanks! :)

That's reassuring!

I used to do a lot of building back in the 90's/early Noughties (!) but I sort of lost track until very recently and am having to learn all over again (As it were)

Just done a big build (which I hope will last me for some time) and am wanting to ensure I am getting the best out of it.
