AHCI problems on P67A-UD7-B3

What F6 drivers do people use when installing Windows 7 64bit with the Intel controller? I've tried using the latest ones here but get constant freezes and the partition screen doesn't load.

I'm sure I once installed Windows using these drivers buts it's a no go right now, are the drivers incompatible or does my B3 have a <gasp> dodgy Southbridge? if I use IDE mode or the stock Windows drives it's okay.

You don't need F6 to load Intel RST drivers. Windows will default and you can install them later :

Here are the drivers for RST post Wiondows install (.exe)

If you are getting lockups, I would test using another drive.

I tried what you suggested earlier by using the Windows driver and installing the full package afterwards and I couldn't get past the Windows loading screen once the RST driver was installed.

I will try another hard drive although I've not had this one long (Samsung 1GB), everything was okay until yesterday when I gave Ubuntu a try it's been playing up ever since.

I gave the RST package another try and it just hangs again on Windows loading screen.

So I've stuck in a spare HD and it's doing the same thing............ it just basically hangs whenever the Intel RST driver is initiated.

Thanks for your assistance I was rather convinced it was my motherboard until you suggested replacing the hard drive, removing the DVD drive was an act of desperation but it worked. I don't know what's wrong with it, it is reading discs fine but has started causing these hangs.
