I've been running my system disk on a single SSD in AHCI mode.

I've ended up with two older second hand matching SSDs and wanted to put them in RAID 1. I've not actually moved from AHCI to RAID before but I've been told you end up having to reinstall the OS is that right?

If so are there any quick and easy ways of getting where I want to :)

In my experience changing the BIOS settings from AHCI to RAID will not affect the Windows boot up. It's the process of adding disks into a RAID array that will wipe those disks.

So I reckon if you installed the two 2nd hand drives, changed the BIOS to RAID but only added in the second hand drives and lft the current boot drive out of the array it will be OK.

Or maybe disconnecting the current SSD, create a RAID1 array woth the two new disks then reconnecting the original disk would be safer still.
