Hi

I posted before that I had problem with my optical drive, since then the drive was replaced because was faulty but when I installed had problems again, I found when I change the setting in Bios to AHCI the drive will crash the windows explorer, so done a bit riding on net saying if you change the sata mode need fresh windows instal but that didn't solve the problem, at the moment the bios is set to Native IDE I'm just trying to find out what could be the problem, I believe I'm thinking right that sata mode in AHCI is better for SSD but if I'm using Native IDE with out SSD could that slow my system down?

Hope someone can help me

Ade

I can't do that on my motherboard, I due upgrade soon anyway, don't run ssd at the moment, it was just a query, i was more concern about sata dvd drive in ide mode, I only have one option in my bios for all sata ports
