Hello all,

Going to be doing a fresh install of Vista when my new HD turns up. So my question is this.

Do you think it would be worth it swiching to AHCI mode from IDE?
Non of my drives support thinigs like NCQ.

What do people think?

If it's a mechanical drive you're waiting on then I wouldn't bother with AHCI, it offers no tangible benefit over IDE mode. SSDs of course are a whole different kettle of fish and AHCI is pretty much essential.

ahci will give you .3 better score in windows WIE on a ssd....it goes from 7.4 to 7.7....it will also atomatically do the TRIM function on an ssd which keeps the drive at 7.7
