It says IDE. one ssd and one storage drive

This explains pros and cons well, have a read and then you can decide for yourself if its worth the reinstall, though there are reports of ways around reinstalls, which you can google, but theyre not guaranteed, if it were me Id either leave it or reinstall, not use the workarounds but its upto you

you need it (sort of) for Mac OSX

I think you get about 4% performance gain overall. Generally speaking, SATA was intended to be used with AHCI and not legacy IDE commands so I tend to always leave it on ??

If you follow this then you should be able to restart, select AHCI in the BIOS and boot with no issues.
