Ok, vista decided to go all strange on me earlier last night.. So ended up reverting to XP again! woop!

So yeah.. I decided to push the boat out with a full NTFS format (Not a quick one) which took up the time until about 3:30am. Now Im having to update everything via windows update BEFORE i can upgrade to SP2 lol.. BEFORE I can upgrade to SP3!

Ahh save me from all this waiting, installing and rebooting... OCUK, please! lol

Anyway, how are you all? What you up to? :)

I NEVER full format, so painful.

I'm fine on this rainy sunday :D, watching transworld sport on 4.

sp3 has all sp before it :) so you could have just installed that and saved your self 5 hours :)

I thought the difference was that a full format wrote a 0 to every sector and checked it for errors whereas a quick format just deletes the MFT, so the data is still there but not known about so it just gets wrote over with time

yes, i have always used the theory that if you know the hard drive is ok and does not have any bad sectors then use quick format,

as the only thing different is the full format checks the hard drive first.

Nope, the sector's are left as they were. Only difference is a scan for bad sectors.
