I've been going to the gym for nearly a year now and just recently I've noticed I've started to get stretch marks just above my arm pits. I've nicked the following picture from a body building website but it shows what I mean.

Is there any way to prevent, stop and/or remove these marks because they are beginning to become quite noticeable. I've read this is normal but I don't know anyone else that this has happened to. I don't want my arms to drop off, I still use them a lot :(

If youre planning on working out for some time to come, youre gonna have to learn to accept them mate..

Stretchmarks only matter when youre skinny or fat...When youre built, it just shows progress and badassitude.

lol yep :) this time last month my stretchmarks were considerably worse than that picture :p being ill and rsi in my wrist has nearly stopped my workout in the last 2 weeks which is killing me, and they've backed off a bit as im not growing anymore, but they are still worse than that pic :o

As Baldy says; accept it. When I starting squatting, the tops of my legs suffered badly with them as they grew very quickly. There's many cremes and potions around that help but best thing you can do is moisturise your skin [don't tell your mates] and drink plenty of water. Hydration is VERY important.

got loads, wait till you start getting them on the top of your calf muscles etc, you start to think you look weird in shorts :D

after a while they go kinda silvery unless your still gaining loads.

As said above, get some cocoa butter and start rubbing it on the areas where the strech marks exist, and areas where you think they might crop up.

Don't be put off by the label (it aims itself at pregnant women), this works really well, I had bad stretchmarks from weight gain and I used this stuff for a couple of months and now they're next to invisible. The cream may help to stop any more from appearing as well

hehe yes my other half who is currently pregnant use's this. Worked so far :D

@Takhisis - Thanks for the recommendation and link. I'll give it a try.

 I've just checked and the top of my left thigh looks like someone's attacked me with a rake. I've got five lines, four of which look like scars after an operation and one that's purple.

Note to self: Keep reading this. Everything will go away.

Moisturising helps if you don't like them. Vitamin e cream seems pretty nifty but i imagine any body lotion will do.
They'll be next to invisible pretty quickly.

got plenty on my belly aswell :<

tho those arent from being 'built' unlike my others.
Pigeon - wait till they go down your arm to your elbow, if they are red/pink people will think its a funky tattoo :D

this is the daddy apparently!

http://www.bio-oil.info/

Although who really knows? I used Palmers concentrated coca butter for a while. Didn't do a lot.

Bio Oil does make a noticeable difference with ski. I had excema on my calf...was constanly itching. Put some bio oil on it twice a day for a week, and its fine now.

Stretch marks appear a blittle better. But i haven't found anything that makes them vanish, and apparently nothing can!
