AHHHHHHHH @ virgin media!!!!!!!!

Hi People

Im sorry if this has no topic in here but my frustration is at boiling point!

I have been on Virgin Media(former NTL) for roughly 8 years or so..........I have always been very satisfied with their service untill now...

I have 3 packages on with them at the moment, phone, TV and broadband excellent service I thought until yesterday!

My phone decided not to work, ok I thought checked all the usual.....phone, battery.......but no joy. Made a mobile call to my mother in law to ask her to call Virgin to see what the problem was.

She made the call, and the guy on the other side was very abrupt, and told her that IF it was not a fault on their side we would be charged 25 quid for a call out charge.............ok I thought I had tried various phones on the line and the line was still dead.............I thought i was safe there....

I was then told that an engineer would call round on Monday(now Tuesday) to call round to resolve the problem. 6 days away.....My G/F phoned again explaining that I nedded the phone for my business of work. She was told that nothing could be done until Monday, I accepted this outcome.


(Interesting part)

My sister in-law called me today and got a DAVE on the phone, SHE thought I was playing a practical joke she went along with the conversation. DAVE told her that she had phoned the wrong number.......and she tried to phone again, to be answered by DAVE again.


So she decided to call round to my house explaining the call.........Strange I thought.....so I called MY HOME NUMBER to be answered by DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!

I explained the situation, and he said that his phone was installed yesterday with the same number as me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I phoned VIRGIN again.......and was told that I was on hold for at least 20 mins, 26 mins later I was cut off!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......I was ripping my hair at this point!!!

I phoned again to be told that I was on hold for 5 mins.............another 26 mins went past and I finally got through..........................

I got through to india and the guy I was speaking to couldnt believe it, he couldnt explain why this had happened.....Then proceeded to tell me that an engineer would be round MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THATS IT VIRGIN IM GONNA CANCEL THE LOT WITH YOU,.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ARRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

whats good for the goose is whats good for the gander...........Im gonna sue

What are my rights?..............can I have them?, sue them.........come on u O/C gurus.....................u can help me..........Im sure a few people have some info for me?

I would suggest calling virgin again and asking to speak to someone senior, explain in simple terms your phone line is dead, but when rang someone else is answering it.
Make it clear (as possible) that your line is dead, but the number is being answered elsewhere.

It sounds suspiciously like an engineer may have accidentally hooked up someone else to the terminals for your line at the street cabinet.

As for monday for the engineer, i'm not 100% sure, but I thought phone faults had to be seen to within a couple of working days.
 
they have 24 hrs to fix a fault if not done then you can claim loss of service,
as its a residential line you wont get credit for loss of work but kick up enough fuss and you never know .....

does sound as if the engineer has cocked up ... call customer service and they can check to see if your number is still listed on the account .. if this is the case then engineer will need to be booked to swap lines the cab (faults will need to book this)

i would call faults speak to advisor... if they dont seem to be sorting it (ie booking a tech) then ask for a manger.

I will try ringing them in the morning............however when I got through an Indian dept, I asked to speak to a senior person, but advised me that no one was avaiable!

I will phone them in the morning now, I will let u how I get on...........

Sounds like your number was disconnected by accident and reissued to someone else, i used to work for telewest and it does happen
 
NTL / virgin SUCK, i've rang them 5 times now twice to the terminations dept. about my bill being wrong, after a monumental balls up their part they agreed 1/2 price broadband for me for ever, this is no having to be re-newed ever three months which i don't mind doing the only thing is it doesn't show up on my bill and have to ring them up again and again and again and again and again to sort it, every time "oh yes the previous person hadn't done it proberly, it'll be ok now" / next bill comes / full price
totally and utterly *&£$(&%" incompetent
this time allegedly i'm getting £50 rebated and a free month and now 1/2 price - well i'll believe it next time the bill lands on the mat ^%$£$)( !$&(*) *()&4"Q)&$
