aiming on the 360 :(

I've still not got as comfortable with the pad as I am with a keyboard and mouse, But that said. It could be a question of...Get ready for it... Ergonomics.

360 pad is amazing, and I've wracked up hours on Oblivion/Vegas/Crackdown and Mass Effect using the pad, and It really does feel like my hands have grown a new friend.

But for me, In FPS the Keyboard and Mouse will always rule the roost. In the same way though, I hate playing 3rd person games with a mouse, It's wierd :p

I've bought one of these

for my 3 year old for xmas. Sad I know.

Going to get her doing achievements for me come new year. :)

I'd like one of those. Obviously.

It's not just me then, been trying Halo 3 this avo and i absolutely suck, the only way i can hit anything is to run right up to it and shot it in the face. Which puts me in range of everybody else and i get dead pretty quick.

I just can't get the crosshairs to sit on the target, always overaiming, crosshair is above the target? gentle nudge and the cross hair is below the target :( then the target shoots at me, same when i go left to right. Doing everything in such a "confined" space such as the controller just feels wrong to me.

Wondering if one of the cheapo kb/m adapter things would be any use.

On the other hand Viva Pinata plays fine :D

And i've got a pink controller too, it matches my eyes :(

one of the keys to doing it is to side step to line up certian shots, because your movement is analogue it's easier to make small adjustments to your aim than with a keyboard, ofcourse if you do that then there's no chance you may change your verticle aim either as the movement stick cant affect that

Using the above with constantly keeping the cross hair at about head hight of where your pointing is the basis really, After that just let the auto aim and your own predictions take over. Of course there is an amount of skill involved but keep on increasing your sensitivity to get to a point you're most comfortable with

But i hardly play pc fps' now, an i suck... occasionally i get a headshot just from a twitch of someone running round a corner... total fluke each time

Practice, practice, practice!

If you use the pad enough you can become very accurate and quick. pew pew!

Not compared to a keyboard user, but you can work at sufficient speeds for it not to cause much hindrance if the game is designed well for the pad.

I can't do it I end up looking at the ceiling.

How long did it take you guys when you bought the box to get good at aiming with a controller.

I daren't go on to live on COD4 at the moment I'd get müllered :p

When i first got a 360 avoided fps totally and concentrated on racing games. After playing through COD2 i soon got the hang of it. Prefer it over a keyboard/mouse combo now really .

Where as I never will prefer Controller over Keyboard and mouse, I wish to god sometimes I could use Keyboard and mouse on the console.

That said, I love the Controller on 360. And I have gotten used to it. But I'll never feel as in control as I would with the Keyboard and mouse. ERGONOMICS! ITS ALL ERGONIMICS! :p

To be honest, I got used to the controller very very quickly. The first FPS I played on my original xbox was Halo and I think that helped because it just felt right.

It's important to me that the controls and movement feel right and therefore there are quite a few FPS's that I don't get into even though I know they are very good (FEAR for example, and Project Dark Zero or whatever it's called.)

It's got to the stage now where I tried COD4 on my mates PC and it was horrid. I couldn't shoot for ****!

You've picked a good one in COD4...that game is spot on and is absolutely fantastic. As are the other COD games, the Halo series and Rainbow Six Vegas.

One thing you could try if you're looking at the ceiling a lot is inverting the axis of the right stick. That's what I do...so push up to look down and vice versa.

I had that problem that i'd use both sticks together and end up running forwards while looking at the floor :(

So i inverted the contols and made it even worse! I'm just used to using both hands constantly ( ), so running with my fingers and having uber control of view with the mouse, but when i put my hands together they seem to try and do the same thing.

I suck at controllers :(
