For a Enthoo Primo case
hello! could i ask for a recommendation for an aio? ive had to rule out the quality ek pradator as im using a mother board that is 2011 v3.
rgb lighting is not a need/
position would be at top/ would i be able to get the arctic freezer 240 in there with push pull? i think its 3.6 inches depth top to bottom!
asrock x99 ws e
intel 6950x
32gb dominator 2800
intel 750 series 400gb pcie nvme gen 3 x4
palit 1080
superflower leadex 1000w

I've got a Swiftech H240-X in the top of my primo. Fantastic build quality and cooling (look for reviews, Hi tech legion has a good in depth review) but because of the pump placement you can't mount fans in push and pull.

Have mine on pull at the top of the radiator and keeps my 5930K nice and cool. The option to expand it should you so wish at a later date is a great feature. Looks very good too through the side window.

Hi wulfster. Ty for you reply . I always wanted to go that route. I checked their site thourougjly and was astonished to find many many customers with leaky pumps, mostly from the same location on the unit , across more than one production generation. What was worse is thr number of threads where the customer support had simply not got back to the poor sods. Im glad your experience is more positive. Has this changed?

Hi LOOPiLOU,

I was pretty shocked to read about all those leaks. I bought and installed mine just before Christmas 2015 and touch wood haven't had a moments bother from mine.

I've even changed the fans on it four times (sucker for shiny things lol) I guess reading all those complaints I must have been lucky. One thing is for sure, when it's time to get a new AIO/CLC it won't be Swiftech.

I fancied a CK Predator but they were prone to leaks (not sure if that's been sorted now) but they were very plain looking, especially in a side window. You could however go push/pull on predator rads although the temp difference isn't much to shout about.

Hi wulf. I thought predator too but i think im right in saying that aio wont fit my x99 5960x socket needs! Which ia a shame as i believe its a better quality product.
I would have been happy with an nzxt but again, users are reporting appalling issues with software that could lead to cpu death ( sonething about cam software nit keeping it running as user has set it.
That leaves a thermaltake ir possibly Arctic freezer ? Do yiu know what if the latter in push pull ( 3.6 inches depth i think ) would fit in the top?

Hi wulf i read thru those links. Seems most coolers are going to perform in a similar fashion. Surprised Steve Burke of nexus did not mention the x62 software issues as its that kind of detail that is actually most important. Ie is thr damn thibg doing its job in a consumer unit on a study desk somewhere. I will keep looking for max depth permissible or measure when ive fitted the eatx mb and post anything useful i find !

I just stumbled across this don't know if your already aware of it but could be very handy.

Seems to be version 2.0 of the predator line up featuring pre filled water blocks that can be added modular fashion to a CLC including quick disconnects.

Thermaltake had some good reviews iirc with the Water 3.0 which is similar to the above linked minus the RGB. Also Deepcool revealed a newer version of the Captain cooler you linked earlier but I think the only real difference is addition of RGB.

lol we are on the same wavelength as i found that last night too. i actually have just used a water 3.o rgb on this update of my old pc and so far it works well, altho hwmonitor and ai suite give diffrent values for temps. i believe ther eis some issuie with temp sensing anyway on fx8320( the chip in that build.) the pc is pictured here. still working out the best way to host pics for this site as i cant just post a photo

Have you looked at be quiet! Silent Loop or Fractal Design Kelvin? Both have proper fittings, Fill port, copper radiator and higher flow / head pumps than CLCs do.

Keep in mind any water cooling system is going to be much more problematic than a top tier air cooler .. not to mention cost much more, not last as long (air coolers only have one moving part, the fan) and cost much more to fix / replace because when a CLC has a problem, 99.99% of the time it's the pump .. meaning no cooling so system cannot be used until a new cooleris installed. With a good air cooler only the ca fail and it's not expensive to replace, system will usually still work just fine at low load or any fan can be rubber-banded onto cooler until new fan arrives.

Hello Doyll, i have enjoyed reading your posts about door latches etc, you obviously know this case.
i think i have disqualified a cpu air cooler as i have got some corsair dominator ram, which would be too high and would interefere with an air cooler?

PS I chose this case as i got it used and was ridiculously cheap and quality. i wanted an airy case as have the space for it. I dont have the skill to do a full w/c build as was intended for the case but thought an aio for the 5960x chip was best way go go for a mild overclock.
any advice more than welcome!
