Air blower duster for pc

I don't think static electricity would be a problem if you were just vacuuming your keyboard, but we're talking about inside the case aren't we?

If you're cleaning dust from motherboards and the like, especially with any type of brush, you run the risk of killing something.

I use a CompuCleaner as above, and take it outside to give it a good blow out - remember to take care with fans, I use a little straw or similar to stop them spinning while I blow them out.

I just wipe my keyboard with a damp cloth.

I can't believe the blowing power of a compuclean is as good as the vacuum from the hoover with a restriction nozzle (usually with a small paint brush),
it would just be more manouverable ... a small compressor might work too, and be useful for other purposes (drying off bicycle parts after cleaning ;))

The CompuCleaner is very powerful and is much better at blowing dust out than a Dyson is at sucking it out.

Anyone know why the CompuCleaner Expert i bought from a competitor came with these attachments.....

.....instead of these far more useful looking ones from OcUk?

Thanks

I used to have a small compressor as I was doing it most days for customer machines. Only takes a couple of minutes to take it outside, pop the side off and let rip from a distance :) The cans are good but are a bit wasteful and the cost add up over time. I have been tempted to buy one of the vac ones mentioned as it'll pay for itself over time compared to the cans. Using a vaccum isn't wise as you could cause static onto the components. It is the only way though if you can't take it outdoors.

if you're just going to blow the stuff around, why not just blow down a tube then, instead of spending 50 quid or such?
Give it a try whilst videoing it and post it here.

Get some decent dust filters and make sure you have positive air pressure in your case and you should very rarely have to use compressed air. I built my PC 4 years ago and it just has a very fine layer starting to show on top of my gfx card top plate.

To create positive pressure just make sure you have more fans blowing into the case than exhausting. That includes the PSU if you have it the wrong way around in the case like a lot of people do for looks.

Who keeps components long enough for them to accumulate dust.

ME! By the time I am finished with a 'computer' (as a full unit) with all of the little upgrades/repairs needed over the years it will look like a Frankenstein's dust monster

How long ago did you buy it ? Bought mine last year from competitor before OCUK started selling them and got all the useful attachments and 4 static resistant brushes, the little hose attachment is especially useful for the harder to reach spots

The cheaper £39 one on ocuk has the same attachments https://www.overclockers.co.uk/it-d...ginal-ii-electronic-air-duster-kb-000-id.html
The £49 comes with the better attachments https://www.overclockers.co.uk/it-dusters-compucleaner-xpert-electronic-air-duster-kb-001-id.html

EDIT: :o Oops I just noticed that you did buy the Xpert version

i would if i advocated blowing dust around, but as i posted earlier, i don't.

Yeah, you're right, we're all doing it wrong :p

I take it you've never had to blow the dust out of a gfx card that has maybe 3 fans, or a CPU heatsink, or a PSU? The vacuum doesn't quite cut it, but the electric blower, or air bed pump, or can of compressed air, does - manually blowing with a straw isn't going to do it I don't think, depends how much puff you have!

If you do try it though, remember to go outside to do it or you'll be blowing the dust out into your house ;)
