I work in a little upstairs office with no windows that is basically an oven with computers. There are 6 of us in there. Unfortunately, we have this huge aircon vent on the ceiling that blows the foulest (but cold) air and the others insist on it being on all the time as they get too hot. Personally, I would rather be hot than have that disgusting air being circulated, but unfortunately I am out voted.

Now, I've been getting dry, sore throats recently (gotta be due to the air con starting to be used with the hot weather) but I have woken up this morning and my throat is actually hurting now. I'm actually really annoyed about it, the fact that only I seem to be affected by it so negatively. I don't want to be ill all summer and this problem isn't going away, so can anyone recommend any tips to living with air con without it making you sick? Any remedies or special tonics that might help ease the dryness of the throat? Or just some support that others have had this problem and not just me. :)

I notice the effects the air-con has on me, whilst I'm at work. I have a sore throat at the moment and will be damned if it is a result of anything but the air-con.

If its usually a minor throat irritation I would just hazard a guess that the air could be too dry-but for something more serious I would put it down to air conditioning needs a service asap and as stated earlier. It wouldn't hurt to keep yourself hydrated as well.

Sore throat and coughs, nothing life threatening but tbh i could do without it!

I would seriously get onto the company about it. Health and safety is such a big issue and a compensative minefield that companies have to look at it. At least get the filters checked so they're clean.

I hate air con.

...as daft as it sounds, can you open the windows in your office-at least that way the air conditioning would be negated somewhat-the only problem being you might have to put up with ozone and general pollution levels: the good news it is going to be a bit cooler over the next few days :)

Its daft mate, because in the OP he stated there were no windows. :p

No its not as I wasn't just referring to the OP but the others who responded with the same problem :)
I admit it can read as though I was.
