Im looking to move into a new office in the next few weeks which is glass fronted and will get the sun for most of the day. I cant afford proper air con and a normal fan doesnt really cut it when you are sitting at a desk all day so was wondering if the mobile air con units are any good?

As I say, in an ideal world I would get air con fitted but its a no go at present but thought one of these units might be a happy medium? Ideally something small and fairly quiet would be great but appreciate I may be asking for the impossible?

Thanks

There are windows I could use but not sure if this defeats the object of aircon as warm air will be coming through the open window?

As said, you need to be able to stick out what ius essentially a tumble dryer hose out somewhere.

If you can open the window, drill a hole in a piece of plywood (or similar) and stick it to the window frame.

Or do what I did for a fair few weeks with an extractor, poke it out the letterbox :D

you can buy a reasonable permanent aircon unit for just over £200 these days , I am sure one of the mobile units will cost you that if not more.

edit: there is a rather reasonable one going on a well known auction site ;)

Bear with it and save up for a proper fixed unit. You will eventually upgrade anyway so you might as well save the cost of buying a mobile one you will inevitably replace and get something neater, less in the way and better performing.
