Ah I have the regular corsairs not as tall
Vengeance.
Vengeance.
You can deffo lift the fan on those coolers, no problem with that.Ah I see if the fan sits above a bit that's ok! Ok I need to try this out then.
Brilliant to hear thanks that for that, really appreciated.`It will be fine. I have the Peerless Assassin and the front fan is raised a little to clear my memory sticks and I have had no problems. It's a cracking cooler.
Cheers I will bare that in mind.If it's for music production and you want a silent system as possible anything noctua that fits within you're budged imo would be a great choice.
Thanks for the help, I will take it on board much appreciated!!I've been through a similar decision making process. You can either spend hours researching the options, watching youtube videos, reading through reviews and comparisons galore... or you can just buy the most suitable Noctua cooler for your build and call it a day
Basic rule of thumb is "bigger is quieter"; more heat pipes is more heat transfer bigger fin pack/s need less airflow speed so lower fan speeds.Hello I will be building music production system based on a 245k CPU. I am looking for recommendations for an air cooler?
I have been recommended something like this:

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 Black Dual Tower CPU Air Cooler
Order Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 Black Dual Tower CPU Air Cooler now online and benefit from fast delivery.www.overclockers.co.uk
The case wont have any viewing windows so no fancy lights or features, in this price range would be nice.
No plans to overclock at the moment.
Goes without saying for a music station build as quiet as possible.
Thanks for that I will keep it in mind, more than likely using what I have unless I am not satisfied with the look or noise.Basic rule of thumb is "bigger is quieter"; more heat pipes is more heat transfer bigger fin pack/s need less airflow speed so lower fan speeds.
Biggest Thermalright Overclockers is PA140.
Only bigger on is La Grande Macho RT. It ha 7x 6mm heat pipes and is 150x120x159mm with 150x120x112mm fin pack. Mount listing does not show LGA1200, but it's same as older LGA1155, etc. 75x75mm hole spacing. LGM RT is newer version of original HR-22. LGM RT has 1 less heatpipe with same basic fin pack set back 4.5mm. HR-22 fin pack was only set back 1mm.
I have also thought about the extra fan, at the rear or don't put a fan at the front and put it at the rear to avoid the RAM issue altogether. The cooler will be almost right next to my rear exhaust so should a nice airflow through the cooler. My Thermalright Peerless Assassin is using the fans that came with it plus a extra identical one I fitted at the rear of the cooler and it is silent, it never ramps up and I am using the silent profile in the bios. My 7800x3d never goes above 70 degrees C even when into a heavy gaming session, most of the time it's in the 60's. Noctua is not the ultimate in air coolers apart from the ridiculous price they charge.
If you are interested in getting HR-22 or Le Grand Macho RT watch used sites. Hard to say if one would better or not. The rational behind the was more fin area would give better cooling with low airflow speed. I used one for awhile and had no complaints. But back then I was testing coolers for reviews and was changing my own just for fun.I have also thought about the extra fan, at the rear or don't put a fan at the front and put it at the rear to avoid the RAM issue altogether. One thing that did help was making a duct fitting back of cooler directly to rear exhaust vent & fan. This moved all heated air coming out of cooler out the back. I used hanging file folders for material and glue stick. Just made up a 3 sided box same size as cooler with bottom cut to fit mobo and extend to back of case. Once it was made and fitting good, I would spray paint it with cheap rattle-can (usually black). That stiffened it up a bunch, so make sure all sides are flat as paint dries. I'd post a pic of basic duct plan, but can't do it with having url .... let me try something
This would make sense to me, by concentrating the air over the cooler with your duct your going to get some good cooling. I think my current case came with an attachment for the GPU by creating a duct type scenario to cool it but it didn't use it. The phantom spirit has plenty of adjustment options including what I didn't consider in terms of raising the fans a little higher to clear the RAM etc. Either way I am pretty sure I will be able setup it up without the CPU throttling. I appreciate your input, very interesting reading. Much thanks. If you are interested in getting HR-22 or Le Grand Macho RT watch used sites. Hard to say if one would better or not. Once I get built I will post up what I did with some underload tempsThanks for thanking me. Please keep us posted about how it all works out.
Hoping to get the time soon to put it together!!Look forward to seeing how it turns out.
