Bundles' Heatsink addition to the exteme cooling 2006 sticky:

Since we get so many repeated questions on What HSF is best for what platform, I thought I would ask your opinion on what is best for each of the following:

Socket A
Socket 754, 939
Socket 478, 775
Etc

Please post your recomendations here and I will filter out the best, get it added to the sticky and get it updated when new coolers come out.

(credits will be given where due)

Skt 939:

A/C Freezer 64 Pro, only 41'C full load with 1.6v through my 3000+ AND it's near-silent as well!

There is no competition

*ducks flames from Scythe fans*

Skt 939

TTBT Cooled my opty 170 @2.85ghz 1.5vcore 30c idle / 42c load.

This was with a naked core which the TTBT is suitable for despite its weght as its screw down rather than clip-on.

Socket A: Gigabyte G-Power Pro

When you say "best" it depends on what criteria you judge the coolers. The Freezer 64/7 Pro is easily the best value for money cooler, but there are better coolers.

Agreed, very good cooler thats also quiet on its slowest speed. The fact its universal so it can be used for other systems after an upgrade is also nice.

We be on about best performance hence why it's going in the "Exteme Cooling" sticky :)

That's a bit misleading Bundles. One could just say" buy any old Heatsink and slap a Delta on there!" ;)

Leave the options open I say.

:)
