Hello all,

I'll try to explain this as well as I can as Im not very technically minded about this.

I've tried to use Air Link with my Virgin Hub3 5gz channel but as everyone in the house is also connected to the 5gz wifi Iget a lot of latency issues and frequent stutters in my game play. So I've purchased a new router that's coming today to use as a dedicated Quest2 soon to be Quest3 router, so I'd like to just confirm with somone thats more inthe know on the set up to how it'll all get connected.

Am I right in saying I'll plug Ethernet from Virgin router LAN to WAN of the new router then LAN from new router to PC, that way household can use the Virgin Wifi for their stuff and I use the new routers Wifi ONLY for VR. Or is there a better way of doing it?

Cheers in advance.

Quick Edit, both Routers will be next to the PC and about 6 foot from the VR playing area.

Edit no2, Make new router as an access point, disable 2.4gz use 802.11ax or ac 5gz.

I've had to do something like this recently because we changed providers, so the new router (sky) went downstairs and my netgear Wi-Fi 6 router upstairs

all i did was go into my netgears settings and changed to AP (Access Point)

i then connect my VR headset to the 6GHz line

if you want to go further, disable 2.4 GHz line if you dont use it, but i do on my phone

Yes, that's basically it. And I would use the following, plug ethernet cable from LAN on virgin router to LAN(not WAN) on new router. And LAN on new router to PC. Setup the new router in Access point mode.

If it's a good router, there is no need to turn off 2.4ghz or anything like that. Just make sure the quest2/3 is the only device with a password to connect to AC/AX SSID.

Also, would check to make sure that the channel width is set to 80Mhz, or 160Mhz if possible. Sometimes routers default to 20/40. 160Mhz won't make any difference on the Quest 2, it might on the Quest 3.

Want to +1 the channel bandwidth being set to 80MHz. My Pico 4 was terrible with default 20/40MHz 5GHz WiFi until I forced 80MHz bandwidth.

Note that 160MHz is great, but it widens the channel and makes interference with other networks more likely.

whatever happened to the official air link thing that you plugged into your PC (I think) for a fast short range connection?

The official air link thing still works for some but not others. Virtual desktop works for those where air link doesn't. Hopefully an update will sort this.
