My dog has bad allergies. I think it's something indoors as it doesn't seem seasonal.

Do these things work? They always seem too good to be true.

Happy to spend whatever amount of money if they do work

Dogs noses are pretty sensitive so hard to really say if an air purifier would really benefit them versus a human, unless you're clued up on that. The veterinary no good? Is the air humidity or temperature affecting him/her? That does play havoc with some people.

I have a levoit one with a sensor.

barely ever above 1-3 pm 2.5 per million or whatever.
The only real benefit seems to be no still air, works good for cigarette smoke though with the toxin filter.

They do catch a surprising amount of dust though, even on low speed, with a dog maybe it would catch a lot. you can just hoover it off the outside of the filter

Winix are supposed to be the best brand.

I dont know about allergies but they do improve air quality.

If you shine a very powerful torch at night in a room you can see all the tiny bits of general house dust / fluff that is invisible to the naked eye.

Using an air purifier in my experience dramatically cleans that up in my testing.

It must be terrible for health to breath it, much of it is synthetic from carpets, clothes, towels etc...

Levoit 300S here, got 2 of them. I had originally purchased them to take in dirty air caused by construction work outside my home but that work never took off. We still use them heavily and they've certainly collected up a lot of rubbish in our place, which is a very clean new build with only the bedroom having a carpet. My wife and I haven't any allergies though so I can't comment on that aspect.

I bought a cheap one on Amazon and I don't think it did anything - the filter was always clean. I would still like one, but I think it might be worth shelling out for something that's got some professional reviews behind it.

In retrospect, it's quite easy to make a device with a loud fan and people will give it 5 stars if it came quickly and has some pretty lights.

This is the one I've decided on.

For 130 quid it's worth trying. Even one vet bill is more than this
