Wow, that was an easy resolution. I was expecting months of back and forth and then a trip to the small claims court.

i was compensated .. not fully but I cut my losses.

Had the same on my Clio, fiddled with the wires under the passenger seat and fixed the issue.
The other common fault with the air bag light is the control box located directly under the cup holder/ash tray. Spillages would leak through the joins and drip onto the air bag control box. Very poorly thought out design choice.
You wouldn't rest your drink on top of non-sealed electrics anywhere else!
