Airplane!

It's an excellent film, you need to watch it more than once to appreciate the little background jokes and the more subtle stuff.

Just because a film is old doesn't mean it's going to be bad, I watch a heck of a lot of films and and have found late 60's to mid 70's to produce some really good stuff. Case in point The Day of the Jackal which I saw recently: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069947/

Quite on topic that film. There is a Poster cut out of Rocky 12 (or some silly number) outside a shop window/doorway

Airplane: someone on these forums once said, "If they crammed any more jokes into that movie, time would stand still." :p

Airplane 2: Pay attention to the automatic doors, which open by saying, "Shhh." Shatner's character says a brief "shh", and the door opens quickly. Other characters say "shhhhhhhhhh" and the door opens slowly. Very clever. :D

I bought the same box after seeing this thread..

the funniest bit for me in the first film is the names of the crew

"roger, roger, whats our vector victor"

Yep Airplane's a absolute classic and my fav of the Zucker/Abrahams creations....so many quotes...also Naked Gun, Police Squad and Hot Shots! go up there as brilliant zany visual comedies and spoofs...

The Jive dudes! :D excuse me hostess I can speak Jive!

This fog is getting thicker, and Leon is getting laaaaarrrrrger!

We're going to the tower!....the tower? Rapunzel!, Rapunzel!

Johnny what do you make out of this?...This? Why, I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl :D

They (Zucker/Abrahams) had nothing to do with the sequel - Airplane 2...may fav moment being when William Shatner is on an eye-level computer screen and yells 'Why am I never told about these things' only for him to open it as a door and walk through!!! hilarious :D

Top Secret! is another hilarious film...which spoofs WWII films....love the bit when the German soldier falls from the castle and smashes like a porcelain doll :p don't worry, I know a little German...he's sitting over there!

whole point of this film, if you dont like one joke, theres another coming 5 seconds later, its relentless :)

Precisely, there's just so many jokes that even though some are really lame and contrived, you can guarentee you'll be falling off your chair sooner or later. It also means that the film has great re-view value; with so many great gags, you forget some of them until you see the film again!

yahh it turned up this morning. By looking on the back of the box i didnt realise it was THAT old

Hope this doesnt make it not as funny for me lol

I know where you are coming from but there are some older comedies which are pure genius and will stand the test of time. Airplane! is one of them, and Dr Strangelove (well over 40 years old now) is another. You will be dead long before that ever stops being funny.

Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. It's a dumb question... skip it.

Quality Film!
